Greetings, my friends!
Lawrie Brewster Learns to Relax
Today, Miss Amicus herself, Megan Tremethick, BHS Producer Paul William Kelly and I, Lawrie Brewster, took the unprecedented step of going on a wee trip through a beautiful, magical-looking park, towards a historic harbour built into a quarry wall, where a village fête was taking place!
That village was Dysart. We ventured out to talk about our horror projects and to chat with the vendors and organisers at the event to say hello. Naturally, this also included sampling the delicious homemade noms that were on offer.
The event was hosted by the Dysart Sailing Club, who are based at the harbour. And you know… sometimes you just need a lovely day out in the sun.
Ah… just look at the weather! The park we strolled through is called Ravenscraig Park, and it’s simply delightful. Lots of happy beasties basking in the sunshine, though I imagine they were quite thirsty, as Scotland is currently in the grip of a heatwave. And, let’s be honest… Scottish folk do not “do” heatwaves!
It goes without saying that I made many bizarre jokes (all obviously hilarious, of course) throughout the course of the video.
Ugh… hot dogs and burgers! It wasn’t easy being in the third week of my keto diet while surrounded by such tempting noms. It took effort to reverse-engineer a treat I could enjoy. I got a hot dog but skipped the bun. Ah… the price of beauty!
Here you can see what the harbour looked like and get a glimpse of the fête as it was unfolding. There was a colliery brass band, dancing, and lots of lovely things. Even my brooding Vincent Price soul was cheered by the summer festivities.
Perhaps a little too cheered. Uh-oh!!
Yes, I was the only adult who got their face painted. And I blame Megan Tremethick entirely for applying an unfair amount of peer pressure!
Clearly, she’s an expert at persuasion, because I was transformed into a sort of orange tiger-cat, which was precisely what we were going for. The day concluded with a trip to our local pub, a classic working man’s establishment, where my flamboyant new appearance was… enthusiastically received.
Without any context as to why I looked the way I did, a very earnest lady approached me at the bar and told me how proud she was of my courage. She said she knew, just knew, I would be the only man in there bold enough to do that.
I washed down that revelation with a couple of rums and Diet Cokes.
It was a fantastic and beautiful day out. As always, folks, I want to share not just the filmmaking journey, but the personal journey too. And yesterday, something spectacular happened. I can’t wait to tell you about it! We’re just holding off for a few more days before we can share all the details. It concerns a very special visitor.
So stay tuned. News is coming later this week.
Is Every Day Roses?
Nope. A guy was a total arse to me over Messenger. It happens. We all get that kind of thing in life, so please don’t feel like what I share here is some idealised fantasy. Life is tough. Work is hard. And just like your lives, mine too can feel like a round of Windows 95 Minesweeper.
I tend to filter out those sorts of things here because, let’s face it, you already have that stuff in your own lives. Unless it’s a truly spectacular challenge, in which case I would share it so we could all learn from it. My point is, yes, I focus on the good, but rest assured I’ve got the same pitfalls as anyone else.
What About Tomorrow?
Tomorrow, we’re back on the clock. Huge challenges await. But they’re exciting ones. From finishing the Epic Gothic Set to prepping for The Screen and its upcoming Kickstarter campaign, which will be the first ever for the B-Team. Separate to that, Hex Studios and Amicus Productions continue at full steam as we wrap up our current campaigns. Especially the rewards for In the Grip of Terror.
